Thankfully they hadn't rolled too far so she was able to get them all.

While she was picking them up a little boy ran over and was going to grab some of the coins for himself. His mom said "Stop that! That's for people who need help!"

The little boy looked up at the employee, and in a matter of fact tone, said "Help."

I thought that was pretty smart. *L*

Finding vs. Looting

Apparently there were two news stories on Yahoo, which have since been taken down. One of them had a picture which showed a couple of white people wading through waist deep water with bread, and it said they found it. Another picture showed a black person wading through waist deep water with bread and it said they looted it. That's just not right. :(

Of course, what was even worse is the fact that at work I've been having to guard the donation can at my register. People claiming to be from LA have been saying "Oh, Katrina relief, is this for me?" and trying to steal the donations. I say "No, that's going to the Red Cross." One of them tried to argue with me about it. I swear, the low lifes really come into Wal Mart Neighborhood Market.

I've worked at several places now and the scummiest people come to that store of all of them.

I wasn't able to come to the Dungeon last night because we were busy getting my router set up. That's one less thing to worry about. Now both me and my mom can be on the computer at the same time so I don't have to worry about waiting for her to get off the computer before I can go role play or do other things I'd like to do.

I felt sad when I scrolled up and saw that Sophie had been waiting for me to come in. I normally wouldn't have done that to her. One of my minor characters kidnapped her main one due to an OOC request. I still have no idea exactly what I'm supposed to be doing now that she's kidnapped, but I guess I'll have to try to think about it while I'm at work today. Apparently she has no clue either and is waiting for me to come up with something.

Looking through my notebooks and thinking about potential character posts I'm finding that I'm drawing a blank for Nathan.

Another funny issue

I found this "issue" amusing that I got for my nation: "Dominoville"

Dominoville Decides:
When Celerys Attack!

Government Acts
The Issue
After several reports of pet celerys violently attacking, injuring, and even killing citizens, there has been growing pressure from public safety activists for the government to take action.

The Debate
"These creatures are a danger to the public and must be destroyed!" says Lars Nagasawa, representative of the Public Institution for Social Safety, Equality, and Direction. "I was attacked by one just on the way here and I nearly lost my life! They're a public menace. We must shoot and burn them!"
[Accept]

"Why punish the poor things?" asks animal-lover Freddy Trax, covered in scars from previous encounters with celerys. "All they need is good hands to care and rehabilitate them. We need a government education programme to tame them and turn them into loveable pets. The one I'm holding right now shows that it can be done. They are all good, kind creatures deep d- argh!"
[Accept]

"I agree that we shouldn't kill them," says Buy Mombota, a famous lawyer. "But I don't think the owner should get away with breaking the law! This is clearly a case of 'intent to greviously harm' if I ever saw it. All citizens should be held accountable of their pet's actions as if they had done the act themselves. It's the only way to be fair - after all, they're just dumb animals."
[Accept]

"Who cares!?" screams Beth Gutenberg as he sends out his pirate radio station broadcast. "Just repeal any laws preventing us from shooting the things when they attack and we'll be able to save ourselves without this stupid, authoritarian, overbearing government and legal system wasting our tax money!"

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.
The Government Position
The government has indicated its intention to follow the recommendations of Option 4.

If you wish, you may simply dismiss this issue.

Plans

Lots of planning going on. I have some things on the agenda, I have to figure out how to do a number of things, including:

1. Which dentist to go to. I have to go to the dentist before I leave my job at Famous Footwear because it's the only place I have dental insurance. I'm not even sure what work will need to be done. I think I have periodontal disease and need a deep cleaning though.

I don't like working with the boss there. She's a big energy drain but lately she seems to have been doing a little better. Almost everyone that worked there when she came has left including one of the managers, most telling me they were leaving specifically because they couldn't stand her. Another manager is going to leave as soon as he can because of her. She is just horribly draining to be around, so much so that if you let her, it'll make you feel sick. One of the tricks she's pulled with me is to schedule me for a certain time then wait until I'm really tired and really hungry and I then I ask for my break and she tells me I can go ahead and go home. This is not acceptable to me because I need the hours so I can make enough money. I've become too scared of being forced to leave so I don't ask for my breaks anymore. And she usually waits until the last possible moment, if she gives them at all. Another trick she pulled at least THREE times was to tell me to come in at a certain time and then when I got there, and my ride had already driven off, she told me she didn't need me for another hour, even though no one had told me she'd changed her mind or left any messages with me at all or even called. This meant I was forced to stay there at the strip center with no car to get anywhere, so I ended up going to hang out in Petco or Target and watch the time until it was time to go back. On the job things weren't much better a lot of times. She has this thing she does where I'll ask her a question and she answers it while I'm still asking it and stops speaking before I stop speaking, so I didn't hear what she said. Then when I ask her, she repeats it quietly and quickly so I can't understand her the second time. Which brings me to another point, she has a very thick urban accent and other employees have complained to me about how they can't understand a word she says the first time. I was just glad I wasn't the only one. Those are only a few of the things... I could go on an on... but I'll stop for now because I think I've given enough of an impression for what she does day in and day out that really gets on everyone's nerves and has driven nearly everyone else away from her. I'm hoping to find a better job soon where I can make at least 20 hours/week to match up with my 25 hours/week at Wal-Mart. Dental coverage would be nice since I don't get that through Wal-Mart.

2. I need to get a power strip and a router for my new computer. I'm finally going to be able to not share a computer with other people and have one all to myself. That means I'll be able to go into the Dungeon a little bit earlier and I'll be able to get more done during the day time too, maybe even some RP if Dungeonites are online then.

3. Clothes... I need them. I've been that way for months because I hate spending money. Hopefully the autumn colors are coming in now so I will be able to stock up soon.

4. RP agenda. I've got some neat things planned, things I'm pre-writing posts for in my notebooks, and concepts I'd like to explore with some of my characters. I'm always open to being part of other people's storylines though if they're good ones.

Very very sad

I'm extremely saddened and angry about the Hitler-like actions of Sharon, forcing Jewish settlers out of their homes, some of whom have lived there for decades, all in a futile attempt to pacify "Palestinian" terrorists. Hamas has already said they won't stop, regardless, and it sickens me to see them celebrating and then see the cameras cut to innocent Jews with tears in their eyes screaming and pleading with IDF soldiers who also have tears in their eyes because they don't want to do this.

The two state solution looks a lot like the "Final solution." One 54 year old woman was so overcome with grief and anger being forced out of her home that she set herself on fire.

If the Israeli government is going to spend all that money and effort taking Jews out of their homes why can't they use the same money and effort instead to expel "Palestinian" troublemakers? Instead of attacking their enemies, they're attacking their own people.

I'm so angry at Bush/Blair/Sharon, and anyone else who was involved in this! Part of me really regrets voting for Bush, but then, I don't think Kerry would have done any differently.

I had to stop watching the news for a while because it was just getting too painful to watch, especially when one broadcast showed a family very upset and this one lady saying "Doesn't anyone in the world have sympathy for us, doesn't anyone care?"

When I get all worked up about this, people often ask if I'm Jewish. I'm not, but I believe that they are God's people and it upsets me terribly to see them treated this way. I only wish there was something I could do to help, but I'm just an American girl with no money and very little influence. :( I guess all I can do is to continue to pray for them.

Now on a lighter note:

Craig/Invid turned me on to a game called nationstates. It lets you run your own little country, well sort of. All you really do is have issues brought up and you decide what happens, and the description of your nation changes accordingly, and not always in the way you want. Anyway, this is an issue that made me feel somewhat better. My nation's name is MonkeyCloud and its national animal is the 'Kofi'. I think it's hilarious because I really don't like Kofi Anan. Why is my nation called Monkeycloud? Because Kofi Anan means "Monkey Cloud" in Hebrew.

In a bid to provide a new revenue stream for

MonkeyCloud's Beef-Based Agriculture industry, it has

been suggested that kofis could be added to the menu.

The Debate
"The fact is, the kofi population is out of control,"

says Beef-Based Agriculture spokesperson Colin

Gutenberg. "We have to do something about them anyway,

so why not market them as tasty snacks? We could have

kofi kebabs, kofi pies, kofi-on-a-sticks--the

possibilities are endless! Let's not pass up this

golden opportunity to provide a feast, if you will, for

our economy."
[Accept]

"I agree that something needs to be done about kofi

over-population," says random passer-by Charles Dredd,

"but eating them? That's kind of gross. Let's just

shoot the ones we have to and shovel their bodies into

ditches like normal."
[Accept]

"I am shocked and appalled!" declared SPCA President

Bianca Chicago. "If anyone needs to be culled, it's us

humans. The kofis were here first, remember? We need to

take this as a sign to get our industry--agriculture in

particular--to back off. The kofi is part of what makes

MonkeyCloud a great nation!"
[Accept]

Well anyway, those are my thoughts for today, a little humor, lots of grief. I really ache for those people... if there was anything more I could do for them, I would.

I hate spending money

I got my hair cut today. I just got it cut straight and below my shoulders, somehow they ended up charging me over $36 for it and of course I left a $5 tip. I think I got ripped off but they did wash it and blow dry it. I'm going to try to find a cheaper place next time. I dreaded going anyway because I hate to spend money.

Then at the end of it, she gives me a $1 coupon for next time. Um, a $1 coupon for a $40 something haircut? Man!

I don't even think I'm going back there, even though they did do a good job and I'm happy with it.

I've almost got my own computer set up so I don't have to share one with my mom anymore. All it needs is a power strip and a router so I can use this computer's DSL connection so I don't have to pay for one myself.

It seems like lately my thoughts center around two things, money and RP. I even remembered the 'real name' of one of the more prominent characters a few days ago, years after the story where it was revealed. I think he was really surprised I remembered. I told Sophie I try to be everyone's memory about who did what in the storylines.

It frustrated me that I couldn't remember something like that, but then it came to me as I was working a 13 hour shift at Famous Footwear (Very unusual, but my boss wanted me to finish breaking down the shipment). I was thinking about different things, then all of a sudden the name just popped up. I don't think he wants people to know because he wouldn't tell me when I was trying to remember, but confirmed I was right (Well, the spelling was slightly different, but I remembered the name) so I won't say what it is, but I'm kind of glad he didn't tell me, because it gave me a chance to demonstrate my memory for those kinds of things.

I have a list of things I need to get done soon with my money, I need to go to the dentist before I quit my job at Famous Footwear, because that's the only place I have dental insurance, and I think I may have to have some work done. I'm not getting enough hours there though. I usually only get to work one day a week at FF and so I'm just not making very much money at all. I need a job where I can get at least 20 hours to match up with my Wal Mart job, which gives me 25. That way I can get a full work week in. It'd be nice if I could get dental somewhere else.

I also need to buy some new clothes. I don't have very many because I just didn't want to spend the money to get new ones. Also, I don't like the Spring and Summery colors that they sell so I'm waiting for fall to come around or at least fall clothing, so I can get some deeper, richer colors that I like better. I like dark colors most of the time, not hot pink, neon green, and bright yellow. Every once in a while I feel like wearing something bright, but I don't want to do it on a regular basis.

I need expensive "New Balance" cross trainer shoes in order to work at all because if I don't have them, my feet make it nearly impossible to get through a work shift. I just got a new pair of those, but I think I'll have to get some more in a few months. I just dread it. At least I get a 30% discount on them as long as I'm working at Famous Footwear, and that helps ease the pain of buying them some, especially if I can catch them on sale.

Anyway, that's all I think about lately, money, and Rp. Now maybe you guys know why I get into the Dungeon at night and am so eager to role play. I need to escape this mess.

My name is Wendy Wendel. I've used various handles online, but three more than others: Windstorm, Rubystars, and Domino. Windstorm was a handle I used at coolchat a long time ago. Some people might remember me from a room there called the Jesus Cafe. Rubystars is a handle I've used on a lot of forums, some of them science-related. Domino is my main character in the Dungeon, a role play room that used to be at cool chat, was temporarily at a place called Shards, and now makes its home at http://www.retrochat.net You'll probably see me mentioning that site fairly often, because I spend a lot of time writing posts for it, thinking up stories, and reading other people's stories and asking them about their characters.

I have a notebook I've begun to fill in with character histories, I'll eventually put them online.

Anyway, right now I'm working two jobs, one at Famous Footwear and one at Wal-Mart neighborhood market. I don't like either job particularly well but at least I'm earning money so I can go back to school pretty soon. I've got an Associate in Science degree and I want to be a wildlife Biologist.

I'm 27 and my birthday is May 7. I have blue eyes, brown hair that's long and straight most of the time, and I'm 5'5", white, single, and of course, female. I'm Christian, non-denominational.

I don't have a lot to write about right now. I have to thank Kassandra aka bloodypoetry for encouraging me to start this journal. Hopefully I'll have more than just role play to talk about, but the only other thing I really do is work right now and that's not too interesting most of the time.
